“Call of Duty Black Ops 3” players are already up to their third DLC pack. Developer Treyarch teased that the next expansion will be titled Descent, and it will again come first on the PS4 on July 12.

Announced via press release, Activision confirmed that the expansion will introduce four new maps, multiplayer maps and another continuation for the Zombies Origin storyline.

“One of the things I love most about Treyarch is that team just keeps going for it. Descent doesn’t take its foot off the gas, serving up a flat-out scorching Zombies experience, as well as multiplayer map designs and gameplay opportunities that we think our fans are going to love,” said Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia.

The four maps have very different set-ups, climates and encounters. Fans who have enjoyed the Raid map in “Call of Duty Black Ops 2” will be delighted to hear that the developer has adapted the chain-movement system for Empire this time. It will transport players to a Roman villa recreated for and owned by a billionaire.

Cryogen is located in an isolated compound that houses criminals far off Dead Sea. The map is reportedly small, but it has several leverages like the sentry towers, cryogenic tubes and even wall runs, which could lead to fast-paced attacks.

The third map, Berserk, will see players aiming to control the bridge in a medium-sized map set in a Viking Village. There will be wooden buildings, deadly rocky outcroppings and chokepoints that fans will need to strategise their way through.

Finally, there’s Rumble, a stadium map that runs on high-speed combat where players will have to battle through fallen mechs and pyrotechnics in a robot war of a lifetime. There will also be an alternate universe of the Zombies saga in the chapter Gorod Krovi.

Here, players will battle mechanical zombies and aerial dragon assaults. Treyarch stated that this is the most exciting Zombies experience to date, complete with new enemies, gameplay mechanics and weapons.

“Call of Duty Black Ops 3” Descent will only be available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. PS4 players will get access to the expansion on July 12, with other platforms to follow. For Season Pass holders, the Descent pack is already part of the bundle at AU$64.95. For those who want to purchase it individually, they will need to buy it for AU$19.95.
