Caitlyn Jenner will remain a transgender woman and would not transition back to a male, although it would not be difficult because the former Olympian reportedly still has a male genital. The family representative issued the clarification in the light of speculations the former Bruce Jenner is considering de-transitioning.

The talks of returning to her male gender were fueled by a new Kardashian book “Kardashian Dynasty: The Controversial Rise of America’s Royal Family” whose author, Ian Halperin, cites multiple sources that Jenner has sex change regret, reports Washington Post. Halperin says a friend of Jenner told him that it was not an easy transition for the 66-year-old celebrity.

While Jenner is thrilled with raising awareness about the discrimination that transgender people suffer, she found the gender shift “harder than she anticipated.” Halperin says the friend believes in the next three years, the public might see Bruce Jenner again.

In response to Halperin’s book, Jenner’s representative said in a statement, “Not worth commenting on such an idiotic report,” quotes The New York Daily News. Before his transition, revealed in June 2015, then Bruce Jenner also denied transitioning into a female.

Other than finding the gender shift more difficult than expected, the friend cited that Jenner’s Christian values play a role in her struggle with being a woman. “I say Caitlyn is still homophobic. Is a believing Christian and my sources say [she] struggles every day with the idea of being gay, which is a sin according to what she believes in,” Pagesix quotes Halperin.

In UK, there are two known cases of de-transitioning, Chelsea Attonley and Ria Cooper. Vice reports that their decision has Britons complaining about the transgender reversal surgeries costing NHS anew. Cooper stopped her transition because the shift was affecting her mental health and body.

Dr Marci Bowers, a transgender and has been performing transgender surgeries in the US for 12 years, says the de-transitioning surgery is very difficult. A complete reversal surgery would cost between $75,000 and $100,000 (AUD$102,828 and $137,086) since it would involve closing the pelvic space and creating a neo-phallus. However, in Jenner’s case – if she does de-transition – still having a penis would work in her favour.
