Finishing a game is a good achievement for any gamer despite the difficulty of the game he is playing. Just the thought of how many hours a player puts into a game is enough proof that completing it is a milestone. Recently, one blind gamer did the impossible by completing “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” after nearly five years.

Terry Garrett, a blind gamer, officially completed his playthrough of the Nintendo classic “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time,” Eurogamer reports. His playthrough began in May 8, 2011 and the video published on Jan. 2 of this year shows off his final battle with the game’s last boss, Gannon. Garrett began playing “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” to prove that he was capable of completing both 3D and 2D games despite being visually impaired.

“After about five years of working on this series, I have finally uploaded the entire playthrough first! A totally blind person completing Zelda: Ocarina of Time with just walkthroughs, helpful vids from fans, and save states. It has been long in the making, but I have finally accomplished my goal!“ said Garrett on the video description of his last playthrough.

Garrett studied engineering at the University of Colorado. His degree helped him develop a way to play games even if he is blind. While playing, Garrett relies on in-game sounds to figure out where he is headed. During his playthroughs, Garrett makes use of left and right-hand speakers placed directly in front of him. To further aid his playthrough, Garrett plays on an emulated version of “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” so that he could make use of save states for his trial and error progress.

Aside from “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time,” Garrett also played several other games. He has played side scrollers such as “OddWorld: New 'n' Tasty.”
