Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin is expected to miss at least two months of action after being diagnosed with a sprained MCL, according to a report. Fortunately for the Clippers, test results on Tuesday showed no structural damage to the knee.

Griffin suffered the injury during the closing moments of the Clippers' 120-115 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center on Monday evening (Tuesday in Australia). Griffin collided with point guard Austin Rivers in pursuit of a loose ball and subsequently remained on the court for the next possession.

As aptly described by ESPN, Griffin stayed on the court. "Griffin remained in the game on the ensuing Clippers possession, during which he missed a 10-foot hook shot. He ultimately checked out of the game and retreated to the Clippers' locker room after a layup by Lakers forward Brandon Ingram and a Clippers timeout. Griffin left the locker room without speaking to reporters."

After Monday's game, Clippers coach Doc Rivers acknowledged that the injury looked serious. "It didn't look good. But we'll just have to wait and see. I knew immediately, I thought. But then Blake said he was OK. I just saw his leg go in, and then when they switched on back-to-back plays, he couldn't move so we had to get him out of the game."

The Clippers are already dealing with injuries to three other starters, namely, point guard Patrick Beverley, guard Milos Teodosic and forward Danilo Gallinari. While Beverley has been ruled out of the season after undergoing a microfracture knee surgery, Teodosic and Gallinari are sidelined for extended periods. Though the Clippers are on a three-game winning streak, analysts expect Doc Rivers' team to tank the rest of the season.

In the aftermath of the Chris Paul trade, Blake Griffin became the franchise star for the Los Angeles Clippers and was expected to carry the team into a new era. Griffin was averaging a tally of 23.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists prior to the injury. Stay tuned for the latest Blake Griffin injury update.
