Tom Keen is currently the most interesting character in NBC’s hit series “The Blacklist.” And, the good news is that the show’s writers have finally decided to unmake this mysterious man. The episode 15, which is titled “The Major,” revealed that Tom was once a foster kid, who was into stealing, and the Major took him under his tutelage at a young age because he found his delinquent tendencies invaluable. Major called the kid Jacob.

When the viewers first met Tom, he was introduced as the husband of FBI’s new profiler Elizabeth Keen. He was a simple, benign, bespectacled school teacher who wouldn’t hurt a fly. The two were happily married till Red popped up in Liz’s life, as FBI’s most valuable criminal informant who would only talk to the new profiler. He put the seed of doubt in Liz’s mind, as well as in the minds of the viewers, against her husband. Soon, it was revealed that Liz’s marriage to Tom was a sham and that the man was a spy who was working for Berlin, Red’s enemy. Berlin had implanted Tom in Liz’s life to get information on Red.

“The Major” revealed that it is Red who had first bought Tom as his asset but Berlin put him on his employees’ list after paying double the price to Tom’s mentor, the Major. Tom was originally supposed to spy on Liz for Red. Red seems to have not yet forgotten or forgiven this betrayal. It was first hinted in the mid-season finale of “The Blacklist” Season 2 that Red and Tom knew each other real well. In that episode, Red gave Tom an envelope full of money and asked him to never appear in Liz’s life. Now, Red is trying to find Tom because Liz is in real trouble, as she has become the main suspect in the murder of the harbourmaster.

Tom is in Dresden, Germany. But, it is very much expected that he will be back in the U.S. before the end of the next episode, which interestingly is titled "Tom Keen." Red has used his twisted but effective methods to find out Tom's whereabouts from Major. It will be worth the wait to see what episode 16 of "The Blacklist" reveals about Tom. It is also expected that Red will decide to tell Liz about Tom and the truth about everything.
