In a recent interview, cast member Hannah New spoke about what to expect from her character in “Black Sails” Season 4. She talked about the coming war and teased that Blackbeard will have a major role.

[Spoiler alert]

In a shocking development, Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New) switched sides in the last season and joined up with Woodes Rogers (Luke Roberts). In an interview with IGN, the actress said that in the beginning her character’s move was intended to save herself. But later, when she saw that his ideas for Nassau are the same as hers and saw how he works she fell in love with him.

Now, in the next season the stakes are even higher, New explained. Eleanor is on the target list of many characters on the show and she is in the middle of a huge fight between the pirates and the British forces.

New teased that there will be a “large-scale battle” in the beginning of “Black Sails” Season 4. The actress described this battle as “very epic.” The battle is very “emotional” for Eleanor because there is a lot at stake for her. And as the season progresses the battles get bigger and bigger.

Each character will view the battle differently, and through their individual viewpoint. New revealed that each character will question why he/she is there and what they are fighting for. One character that will be of particular importance is Blackbeard (Ray Stevenson).

“Black Sails” Season 4 is going to be “massive” for Blackbeard, New teased. She is not allowed to reveal anything important, but said that the things that happen to the dreaded pirate are “insane.” The one character who should be particularly worried about the pirate is Eleanor. Apart from her past in Nassau, she is also responsible for the death of Charles Vane (Zach McGowan), something that Stevenson’s character isn’t going to forget in a hurry.
