'Black Sails' Season 3: First Look At Blackbeard in Teaser Video

A new teaser video of “Black Sails” Season 3 has been released by the producers. The video gives fans a first look at a new character called Blackbeard and also features cast member Toby Stephens explaining how hard the cast and crew members are working for the upcoming season. [Spoiler Alert!]

With the finale of “Black Sails” Season 2 pushing the pirates closer together to take on the new challenges they will face, more pirates will be joining the storyline. The events of the previous season have made it nearly impossible for any reconciliation between Britain and the pirates. The residents of Nassau will now have to prepare for an impending onslaught by the Royal Navy.

“Black Sails” Season 3 is slated to premiere in January 2016. The preview video shows Ray Stevenson joining the cast members as the infamous pirate Blackbeard. The actor can be seen wearing a black costume and sporting a long black beard.

The character Captain Flint can be seen holding onto a rope during heavy rains. The character will be visiting what appears to be a village with his crew. The upcoming season is expected to feature more action sequences with at least one ship getting flooded with water and one of the characters finding it difficult to survive.

A notable change in the character John Silver, played by Luke Arnold, is his short beard in “Black Sails” Season 3. This image of the character from the previous season, posted on the official Twitter page of the TV series, shows the scene of his amputation. The tweet points out that the character may have lost his leg but is now the new Quartermaster.

John Silver was already popular with the crew members for his stories, and his sabotage of the ship to save their lives made him even more popular. After many of the pirates witnessed his amputation, it may have prompted them to vote him as the new Quartermaster. The character may play a more important role in his new position in the upcoming season.

There are many shifting loyalties and complicated relationships in the TV series. The Spanish gold of Urca de Lima is now in the hands of Rackham, and Flint was furious to learn that another pirate crew has gone after the gold. Eleanor Guthrie has been arrested and is off to face trial while Max is attempting to take control of Nassau. “Black Sails” Season 3 will begin with the new and formidable alliance of Captain Flint and Captain Charles Vane.
