Cast members Jessica Henwick and Rosabell Laurenti Sellers spoke about their characters in “Game of Thrones” Season 5. The two actresses play the roles of new characters Nymeria Sand and Tyene Sand respectively in the upcoming season. [Spoiler alert]

Nyseria Sand and Tyene Sand are two of the three Sand Sisters who will be featuring for the first time in “Game of Thrones” Season 5. The actresses playing the roles gave some insight about their characters to TheTelegraph. Rosabell said that her character is the youngest daughter of Ellaria Sand. Jessica said that her character’s mother was an eastern noblewoman, who died in battle.

Both the characters are the daughters of Oberyn Martell, who died in a brutal duel in the previous season. Nymeria Sand is called Lady Nym and learnt to use the bullwhip from her mother. Jessica explained that her character was the “most strategic” of the three sisters and doesn’t rely on brute force to gain victory, just as a whip requires “balance and timing, precision and accuracy.”

The two characters will be gunning for revenge in “Game of Thrones” Season 5. Jessica revealed that the Sand Sisters have grown up hearing about how the Lannisters have “abused” their relatives and when they hear of their father’s death, they decide that they should go to war over it.

The relationship dynamic of the sisters is just like the relationship between any sisters, Rosabell said in the report. The sisters are said to be united with a “common goal” but will differ on the strategy to employ against the Lannisters. Tyene is said to be ready for battle and prefers to “go for it,” while Nymeria would rather “stop and look back and think” before proceeding.

There is also a common “resentment” among the Sand Sisters for Prince Doran, the actresses said. The wheelchair bound prince was supposed to go to Joffrey’s wedding, instead of Oberyn, and his reluctance to go to war supposedly makes him look “weak” to Tyene and Nymeria Sand.

“Game of Thrones” Season 5 will take the viewers to the kingdom of Dorne for the first time. Jessica and Rosabell pointed out that the kingdom is very different from the other kingdoms of Westeros, the kingdom is a place where women have equal rights.
