Beautycon Festival highlights: Annual convention held at Los Angeles on July 9
Makeup experts, fashion enthusiasts and social media personalities gather at a prestigious event in LA
American fashion and beauty company Beautycon Media hosted its annual convention at Los Angeles Convention Center. The 8-hour event was held on July 9, Saturday. It opened its doors to fashion enthusiasts, makeup moguls, hairstylists and beauty experts at noontime.
The event has a general admission ticket starting at $50.99 and offered meet-and-greet packages for VIP visitors. The company and organizers also offered a hotel-booking promo where guests were treated to a night full of special events before the day of the convention.
According to Los Angeles Times, Chief Executive Moj Mahdara said that she was expecting about 12 and 15 thousand attendees. Celebrities like "America's Next Top Model" producer Tyra Banks, "Basketball Wives" cast member Draya Michele and "mixed girl" television personality Aja Dang were spotted at the event. The convention was also a promotional outlet for popular makeup companies such as Lime Crime, L'Oreal Paris, NYX Cosmetics, Real Techniques, and Maybelline, as well as lifestyle brands like Garnier, Nike, Perfumania and Milani. These brands and companies gave away loot bags and promotional merchandise to con-goers.
The event also held makeup workshops and guest panels. The workshops were conducted by well-known makeup artists and stylists while the panel discussions were conducted by beauty and wellness aficionados, and fashion bloggers on YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram such as Joseph Andrews, Karissa Pukas, MakeupShayla, Missy Lynn, Mia Stammer, and Jeanine Amapola.
Beautycon Media has hosted events in London and New York. Sponsoring the Los Angeles convention were multi-million labels Colorpop and Paul Mitchell. The company plans to hold conventions in Mexico City and Singapore in 2017.
The Beautycon Festival included a musical appearance from pop-rap duo Jack & Jack. Many iconic media outlets, namely Bustle, BuzzFeed and Cosmopolitan were present at the the convention and provided live streaming of the prestigious beauty convention.
