On one hand, more than just to look nice, in 2015, men underwent shaving in an area untouched by the razor before. On the other hand, health experts foresee many women undergoing two kinds of procedures in 2016 to both look beautiful and healthy.

Although request to shave men’s behinds are not new to Bliss Spa male grooming expert Ben Brown, he points out that Snapchat, belfie and sexting has made butt shaving more popular in 2015. He explains that the service is both for hygienic and vanity purposes because shaving derriere hair spares the butt owner from catching bacteria that thrives in moist areas if the backside was not wiped or dried properly, reports Mashable.

At the same time, having baby-like smooth buns makes the gluts more sightly and attractive, and sitting naked on a chair becomes more comfortable. Brown adds that because of fashion, mainly skinny jeans, there’s a lot of friction on the backside, pointing out that “The more hair you have the more uncomfortable you are.”

Because shaving the behind has become the new norm for the modern man, he shares tips on how to do it. The tips include taking a bath first, using a mirror, opting for a wax treatment or using an electric razor and managing the itch with lotion or oil.

While men are trimming butt hair in 2015, for 2016, the trend for women would be to reduce the size of their breasts. Dolly Parton-like mammary glands are out, only porn actresses would likely still go for silicone injections.

Other women would go for smaller chests, says Dr Douglas Steinbrech of the Gotham Plastic Surgery in Manhattan. He explains, “People don’t want to be top heavy. For 2016 buttocks are the new breasts,” quotes the New York Daily News.

Steinbrech says that when he compared his patients in 2015 and 2014, he noticed an uptick in women seeking smaller enhancement procedures for their breast, a trend which RealSelf, a cosmetic industry Web site, confirms. He continues that it is part of the societal shift from the chest down to the backside.

The surgeon attributes the popularity of butt enhancement procedures to reality star Kim Kardashian, whose Paper Magazine cover in November 2014 broke the Internet and sparked interest in the buns. For lip enhancement, another trend for 2016, he says the culprit is Kardashian’s stepsister, Kylie Jenner, whose lip enhancement led to a spike in requests for the procedure in 2015, as reported by 30 percent of dermatologists and 43 percent of cosmetic surgeons.

He adds that for breast reduction, the model is actress Ariel Winter of “Modern Family” who underwent the procedure this year. Also expecting a high demand in 2016, as projected by 68 percent of doctors, is neck and chin work.
