Good news came for “Bates Hotel” fans after A&E announced that the TV series’ Season 5 is happening. The network decided to give its drama series, popularly described as the “Psycho” prequel, ten more episodes.

Rob Sharenow, A&E and Lifetime’s Executive Vice President, shared that the company is thrilled to give the fans another season. He added that as the series moves forward, viewers would witness Norman Bates’ transformation into becoming the most infamous psychopath in the history of cinema, Hollywood Hills writes.

During the recently ended fourth season, the show’s creative team exposed the slow relationship breakdown between Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga). Season 4 ended with Norma dead and Norman’s already wobbly mental state starting to disintegrate further.

It remains to be seen whether the series would go as far as the movie version went, where Norman, the taxidermy enthusiast, stuffed his dead mother just to be with her. Cinema Blend says, however, that a character from "Psycho" will be joining.

Both actors have received critical acclaim through the years for their performance in “Bates Motel.” In fact, they recently received nominations for the Critics Choice TV Awards, according to Deadline. The show also stars Nestor Carbonell, Olivia Cooke and Max Thieriot.

Fans and viewers are advised to be on the lookout. This is because the announcement of a new season means more trailers, new spoilers, photos and videos are coming out in the next few months.

Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse are the executive producers of “Bates Motel” in Universal Television. It is reported that production of the upcoming season would be done this year. The fifth season is set to air in 2017.
