As “The Bachelor” season 21 nears its finale, one of its contestants is already busy making the rounds and promoting her new stint. Since she was officially announced as the star of “The Bachelorette” season 13, Rachel Lindsay is now trying to charm more viewers, who can’t wait for the upcoming edition of the reality TV show.

The few remaining episodes of this year’s “The Bachelor” are still airing, with Rachel still on the running as part of the top three. However, with “The Bachelorette” revelation, fans already know that the competition is just between Raven Gates and Vanessa Grimaldi.

Rachel recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show [watch below], where Ellen tried to coax her into revealing “The Bachelor” season 21 star Nick Viall’s pick. The 31-year-old lawyer from Dallas, Texas, refused to give anything away but revealed that she wasn't expecting to be booted off the competition. “He let me go. I was shocked, too,” she admitted. “I thought Nick and I had a strong connection.” She continued that things between her and Nick didn’t work out. “I guess he was looking for something else. His loss,” she said.

While Rachel said that she was pretty heartbroken when it happened, she claimed that she has moved on since then.” Ellen quipped that Rachel seems to have moved on quite quickly, considering she’s about to have her pick from a throng of men. Rachel agreed that it’s not a typical way of dating a man and it’s a different experience for her.

When asked what she’ll look for during her stint as the new “The Bachelorette,” Rachel admitted that she doesn’t have a physical type but she’s a “sucker for great smile.” She also said that she’s looking for a guy who could make her laugh, who knows exactly what he wants and someone who’s ambitious, ready to start a family and to get married.

Ellen and Rachel also talked about “The Bachelor” ex-contestant Corinne Olympios, who was considered by some fans as the reality show’s villain. Ellen predicted that Corinne, who also guested on her show earlier, would win. The 24-year-old business owner was eliminated on episode 9, despite her earlier attempt to seduce Nick in the Bahamas. “I love Corinne,” Ellen admitted. “At the beginning, I thought she was crazy.” Rachel revealed that Corinne is great and the viewers only got to see some sides of her.

Rachel, who has since returned to her work as an attorney, said that she’ll start filming for “The Bachelorette” in March. Ellen then gave Rachel a challenge – to include a wine glass and a pair of bejewelled high-heeled shoes in the reality TV show’s first episode. In exchange, Ellen will give US$20,000 (AU$26,000) to a charity of Rachel’s choice. Rachel gamely accepted the challenge, saying, “Let’s go for it.”

Rachel is making history as the first African-American to star in “The Bachelorette.” Most fans appreciated ABC’s move and has taken to Twitter to express their sentiments.
