Aussie celebrity Sophie Monk has been announced as the next person to find love in the country’s dating competition series. Monk has a long list of TV, movie and music credits under her name. Here are some of the things to know about her, including how to win her heart.

Music career

Monk is an actress, a musician and a radio personality. She rose to fame on reality show “Popstars” in 2000. She was 19 years old at that time. The show created the all-girl group Bardot, which became the first Australian female band to debut at #1 on local charts with debut single “Poison” and their self-titled album. Three years later, Monk dropped her solo album “Calendar Girl.”

Acting career

After graduating from college, she had worked as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast. In 2005, Monk moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue an acting career.

She landed a break-out role in the US comedy film “Date Movie.” She first appeared on American TV in 2007 in HBO sitcom “Entourage.” The actress/singer moved back to Australia a couple of years ago.

TV stints

The 37-year-old actress/singer is considered a reality TV veteran. She seated as a judge on the dating show “The Choice” in the US and also in “Australia's Got Talent” season 8 alongside Kelly Osbourne, Eddie Perfect and Ian "Dicko" Dickson in 2016. She also won “The Celebrity Apprentice Australia” in 2015.

Radio shows

Monk has appeared on "Kyle and Jackie O Show" several times at KIIS 1065's. She also hosted "The Summer Fling" breakfast show with Matty Acton on the same radio station and on KIIS 101.1.

Her much-awaited reality show

Monk first hinted about her stint in the Bachelor franchise earlier this month. She appeared on the “Hard Chat” segment of “The Weekly with Charlie Pickering” on ABC in Australia.

She was asked if she had ever wished to have waited for the right reality show for her. Monk replied that she wanted to be in a reality show right now. When asked which show she prefers, Monk replied, "The Bachelorette. I'm very single."

What kind of man she is looking for

Monk is seeking to meet an honest, kind and real Australian man. She said that although she lives near her family now, she lacks a person she can share her life with. She has revealed that it was her family who convinced her to follow the footsteps of former “The Bachelor” Australia winner Sam Frost and news reporter Georgia Love.

“My Mum was the person who suggested that I should be the Bachelorette. She, along with the rest of my family, know how much it means to me to find the right person to settle down with,” she told Network Ten.

Application for prospective Monk’s suitors is now open. Click here to fill out the application form and for complete details of the process. ABC has yet to announce a premiere date for “The Bachelorette” Australia.
