In a recent interview, Executive Producer Wendy Mericle teased some details about John Diggle in “Arrow” Season 5. The character took a major decision after the events in the previous season, and chose a different direction in his life.

[Spoiler alert]

John Diggle (David Ramsey) is back in the military after he was forced to kill his brother in the previous season. He will be stationed at Chechnya, Mericle told TV Line. The producer teased that the character is still in the military and is “very much a man without a state.”

While in the military, John will be away from his family and the superhero team. His main aim at the moment is to understand how he can get that “sense of himself back after killing his brother.”

John Diggle will be back in Star City later. The producer said that he will not like all the new recruits in the superhero team. “Arrow” Season 5 will be introducing new characters who will be joining the team, and Oliver will be busy training them.

Mericle teased that Diggle will find a way to adjust to the new circumstances. The character will find “common ground” with the new vigilante named Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) and this will help “take the sting out of it.”

The new team members of the vigilante group are Wild Dog, Artemis (Madison McLaughlin) and Curtis (Echo Kellum) as Mr. Terrific. The superheroes will have to take on the Mob this year.

The flashbacks in “Arrow” Season 5 will finally take Oliver to Russia. The fans will learn how the hero got the Bratva tattoo. Back in Star City, the superhero will have the dual role of being the leader of the vigilante group and also the newly appointed Mayor of the city. The show is set to premiere on Oct. 5.
