“Big things” have been planned for Felicity in “Arrow” Season 5. The character’s storyline will no longer be hinged on her relationships. So, the character will be going beyond Olicity and her connection to her father, which will be something entirely new for her.

[Spoiler alert]

The challenges are aplenty for Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver (Stephen Amell) this year. The superhero team has broken up, with only the two of them remaining. There will be new recruits, and Oliver will be busy training them to help keep Star City secure from new villains.

However, the training of the new recruits is not the only challenge they face. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that in the first five episodes Felicity will have to deal with the deaths in Havenrock in the previous season. She blames herself for the deaths, as it was her fateful decision, which saved millions of lives but it resulted in the deaths of thousands.

Guggenheim revealed that they are positioning Felicity to do something “really, really key” in “Arrow” Season 5. What she will be doing in the second half of the season has nothing to do with her relationship with Oliver, her father or her mother.

“It’s really new territory for her, and we’ve very excited about it. Some big things are going to happen with Felicity,” Guggenheim said. The producer did not elaborate on what she will be seen doing.

“Arrow” Season 5 is set to premiere on Oct. 5. The title of the first episode has been revealed to be “Legacy.” The episode will focus on Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), and will reveal the new villains. The Mob will rise to be the new threat that Oliver will face this year. The flashbacks will finally take the superhero to Russia.
