A “dead” character is all set to return in “Arrow” Season 5. Meanwhile, Co-Executive Producer Wendy Mericle has revealed that the fans will not get to see a return of Olicity any time soon, as the main characters will be busy dealing with their personal issues and not have enough time for each other.

[Spoiler alert]

The “death” of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) in the previous season came as a big shocker to the fans. The character has been a part of the show since the very beginning. However, the death scene did leave enough room for the character’s return in the future.

Laurel was fine and out of danger at the hospital. But, after a brief exchange with Oliver (Stephen Amell) she suddenly died. The fans did not get to see what exactly she told Oliver.

During the panel discussion at the San Diego Comic Con, Cassidy confirmed that she will be reprising her role in “Arrow” Season 5, Comic Book reports. She will be seen in the premiere episode of the next season. The actress said that her return even surprised her. She pointed out that in the make-believe world of television anything is possible, and she was hopeful of her return when she got an email from the producer asking for a meeting.

Cassidy said that she was grateful for the producers for giving her a chance to play Laurel Lance, who had a “great arc.” The character will now be seen in not only Star City, but also in the other superhero TV shows “Flash” and “Legends.”

Meanwhile, Mericle told TV Line that there won’t be a Olicity reunion any time soon in “Arrow” Season 5. Both Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) will be in “crisis mode.” While Oliver has two big jobs to handle as the Mayor and the masked superhero, Felicity will have to come to terms with what happened at Havenrock. Until the two characters deal with these issues there won’t be any time for a relationship.
