Apple has begun taking steps towards casual gaming lately. The company has always been geared in manufacturing new innovations before but a shift towards gaming could prove to be a game changer in today’s console wars.

Just recently, Apple opened up a new Twitter account that is solely focused on anything about the games found at the App Store, Techtimes reported. The feed is being manned by Apple’s game editors. Aside from news about App Store games, the feed will also feature tips and tricks, game challenges and behind-the-scenes content for current games.

A few days from now, Apple will hold an event on Sept. 9. The event could possibly see the release of the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus. Aside from the reveal of the new handhelds, Apple is also rumored to shed some light on the possible gaming capabilities of the upcoming Apple TV. Recent reports claim that the Apple TV will ship with a motion sensor remote control, which is similar to the Wiimote. This further opens up possibilities of Apple’s move to attain gaming success.

Polygon points out that the App Store has received a UI overhaul the reorganizes the way games are categorised. The App Store Games editorial team has added human curation to the games sub-sections. The Racing sub-sections for example has replaced the charts charts that had previously been automatically generated based on downloads and the amount of money made. More and more companies are reportedly joining the gaming fray as of late, one of which is Google which recently launched Youtube Gaming earlier this month. Youtube Gaming is set to compete with other game streaming websites such as Twitch.

The new Twitter account of Apple is currently empty and lacks content. Viewers could expect more content in the following days, especially after Apple’s event on Sept. 9.
