Apple's Sept 9 event was one of the most highly-anticipated ones in recent times. The tech world as well as common users waited eagerly to know about Apple's next moves. Here are the highlights of the evening.

iPhone 6

A recent survey revealed that the iPhone 6 was the "most anticipated Apple smartphone ever." As we predicted, two different versions of the iPhone 6 were introduced. The one with a 4.7-inch display will be called the iPhone 6, and the one with a bigger 5.5-inch screen will be called the iPhone 6 Plus. This is also the slimmest smartphone Apple has ever created. The iPhone 6 Plus will be 7.1mm thin.

iPay

Apple also introduced its new Apple Pay or iPay feature at the Tuesday event. The feature is going to work just like mobile wallets. According to the CEO of the company - Tim Cook, the payment process is "entirely new." The payment process is going to support popular cards like Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Apple Watch

While there was much hype about the next generation iPhone, Apple's smartwatch was also predicted to be one of the major announcements at the event. The wearable device is the first product after Cook took the responsibility as the company executive. "It's amazing what you can do from your wrist." Cook said, "It will redefine what people expect from a watch." Apple Watch can send your heartbeat to friends. It supports Twitter, which means that you will be able to tweet with your Apple Watch. There is going to three variants of Apple Watch: Apple Watch, Apple Watch Editions and Apple Watch Sport.

U2

The Irish rock band performed at the Apple event on Tuesday. Bono performed along with his band at the event which also celebrated the free launch of U2's new album on iTunes. This was the first new LP U2 released in the last five years. "Songs of Innocence," as the album is named, is freely available to iTunes users for the entire day. "It makes music history because it's the largest album release of all time," Cook said.
