The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and the Apple iPad Mini 5 are two of the most anticipated tablets of 2017. While the iPad Mini 5 is rumoured to be unveiled in March 2017 along with the iPad Pro 2, the Galaxy Tab S3 has not provided any release date yet. It will be interesting to see which one of the tablets will outperform the other. Both the devices will be coming with high-end features and top of the class specs.

The Apple iPad Mini 5 may sport a 7000-Series Aluminium Chassis and come in different storage variants and sizes. It is also rumoured to have Apple’s new touch technology. When comparing the specs and features of the two, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 could be powered by a 3GB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset. The base model may have 32GB internal storage and a 4,000 mAh battery. An 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera is also anticipated.

The Apple iPad Mini 5 is expected to be slimmer than the iPad Mini 4. The device may feature a 5,124 mAh battery, 8MP rear and 1.2MP front cameras, 32GB/64GB/128GB storage variants, iOS 10, A9 co-processor, 4GB RAM and 7.9-inch Retina IPS Display with 3D touch. As per iPad Mini5.org, the basic 32GB Wi-Fi model may cost US$390 (AU$540 approx). The Galaxy Tab S3 price could be very similar to that of Galaxy Tab S2, reported Tech Radar.

Two variants of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 could be released, 8-inch and 9.7-inch. Both may sport AMOLED displays, pretty much like the Galaxy Tab S2. Many believe that the SM-T820 and SM-T825 model numbers are the Wi-Fi and LTE variants of the Galaxy Tab S3. Combined with an Android Nougat operating system, the Galaxy Tab S3 may be able to provide users with an excellent user interface and performance. It seems the Apple iPad Mini 5 has a rival.
