As much as the new Apple iPad Air 2 is being praised, the iPad Mini 3 is trailing behind. Even during the tablet announcement day, Apple concentrated more on the Air 2 than the Mini 3. Mainly because the new compact tablet has not gone through any significant change from its Retina-clad predecessor Mini 2. The only respectable difference is the Touch ID Fingerprint sensor. Furthermore, here is the custom test result pertaining to the battery life of the recently released iPads.

With the same design, unchanged specifications and unrevised features, the latest iPad Mini 3 is beaten down by its own predecessor iPad Mini 2. Following the tradition, Apple has not revealed the exact battery specifications of its iPads. However, it is widely believed that the battery configurations of both iPad Mini 2 and Mini 3 are identical, similar to other specifications. Based on the test results, the iPad Mini 3 offered nearly 1.5 hours lesser battery life when compared to the iPad Mini 2 in the custom battery benchmark test. Meaning, the Mini 3 would last a whole day on an average usage, but anything more will require a re-charge, according to Phone Arena.

Another difference between the Mini 2 and the Mini 3 is the 64 GB variant. Apple has put the 32 GB iPad model to rest, instead a 64 GB model is being offered. Moreover, the Touch ID in the iPad Mini 3 can be used to unlock the device and also for making mobile payments with the help of Apple Pay service. Apple has partnered with Visa, MasterCard and American Express, among others to help with the new payment mode.

Not sure, if potential buyers would be interested, but there is a "Gold" coloured iPad Mini 3 in offer, along with the standard Space Gray/Black and Silver/White hues. Speaking of price, the Apple iPad Mini 3's 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants are priced at US$400, US$500 and US$600 respectively.
