Apple struck gold with its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus release this year under the leadership of Tim Cook. The tech giant moved out of the traditional pocket-friendly iPhones to large-screened devices in 2014, following the trend set by Android counterparts. And this has proved to be one of the best decisions made by Apple so far. On that note, here is a list of promising Apple devices lined-up for 2015 release.

Apple's upcoming smartwatch, the "Apple Watch," awaited by both tech geeks as well as fashionistas, will hit the store shelves in 2015. Apart from the major release of the iPhone 7, the company is also working on the iPhone 6S model, which is expected to bring-in several improvements to the iPhone 6. Furthermore, Apple is believed to launch a bigger iPad dubbed the "iPad Pro" or "iPad Plus." In addition, there will be an Apple iPad Air 3 model, as a replacement to the iPad Air 2, says Business Insider.

According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker report, Apple holds the numero uno position among other OEMs, even with a 12.8 percent drop in quarterly tablet shipment on YOY stats. Apparently, the tech giant shipped a total of 12.3 million iPads in the third quarter of 2014, while Samsung shipped only 9.9 million units and the Taiwanese company Asus comes third with 3.5 million shipped tablets, reports MacRumors.

Interestingly, there were rumours stating that the iPad Mini series of devices will be terminated, as the recently released Mini 3 could amass only a lukewarm response. In hindsight, the recently released Mini 3 does not come with any substantial enhancement, besides the Touch ID Fingerprint scanner. Also recently, Ray Soneira from Display Mate Technologies was quoted saying the following on the Mini 3 tablet, "For a company like Apple that prides itself on producing great products, the iPad mini 3 is embarrassingly mediocre and way overpriced." But then, Business Insider says, the iPad Mini 4 is very much in the race and will hit the store shelves in fall 2015. Plus, the aforesaid device will reportedly feature a faster processor and an improved camera unit.

If reports are true, Apple is also working on a 4-inch "iPhone 6 Mini" smartphone to target the percentage of users that prefer pocket-friendly devices. Going by the history of Apple iPhone releases thus far, the new devices i.e. iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 release will be preceded by the announcement of the much-awaited Apple iOS 9 release, says the same site.

Other reported releases include new OS X version, slimmer MacBook Pro and the Retina MacBook Air. Plus, Apple could also reportedly build Retina iMac on the 21.5-inch model, similar to the 27-inch model released this year.

What do you think of Apple 2015 release line-up? Which one of the above devices are you waiting for in 2015? Feel free to leave a comment.
