Motorola already announced the list of devices which will be getting the latest version of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The company also clarified the “sweet enhancements” that the newly launched OS will bring in. There has been no official confirmation on the exact date of release of the update. But there are speculations all over the web, that the latest upgrade will hit the devices “soon.”

The new OS will bring in Doze mode, automatic backup, Android Pay support and fingerprint scanning. Now on Tap, Bluetooth 4.2 and LTE connectivity, direct share of photos, news and links and simpler volume control and much more to Motorola devices.

Here goes the full list of devices getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, as mentioned in the official Motorola Blog:

2015

  • Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen)
  • Moto X Style (3rd Gen)
  • Moto X Play
  • Moto G (3rd Gen)

2014

  • DROID Turbo
  • Moto Maxx
  • Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia (2nd Gen)
  • Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd Gen)
  • Moto Turbo
  • Nexus 6

Other smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, LG and Sony are also gearing up for upgrading their devices with the Android version 6.0. As reported by Neurogadget, the Moto E does not have the required internal memory to download and install the latest firmware. Similarly, original Moto G and Moto X will not get the Android Marshmallow upgrade.

The update is likely to measure 500MB in size. In the meantime, while launching the Droid Rurbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2, the company aslo confirmed that both the devices runnin gon Android 5.1 Lollipop wilol be upgraded to the latest version of the OS.

With the release of the new OS, going forward Motorola will preload its devices with Moto Assist, Moto Migrate and Motorola Connect, as it will replicate features of the Android version 6.0 including Do Not Disturb (DND) and automatic data backup.

The official software upgrade page confirmed that in Australia, the company is in talks with the technology and carrier partners to upgrade the existing devices to the next generation of Android operating system. Motorola plans to upgrade the Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X (2nd Gen) and Moto G (2nd Gen) with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
