Sony has finally started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its device. On March 16, the Japanese tech company had released the much anticipated Lollipop update to its most recent flagships, the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact, states the International Business Times report. Fresh reports claim that the update is now being made available to other Xperia Z devices.

Sony Xperia Z2

According to the Xperia Blog, the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware update with build number 23.1.A.0.690 is now being seeded to Sony Xperia Z2 handsets with model number D65XX. The firmware update is the same one that has been made available for Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact users of Nordic and Baltic regions. Again users located in the same regions with Xperia Z2 D6503 handsets are currently receiving the update.

Sony has also made the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update with the same build number for its tablets like the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and the Xperia Z2 Tablet. The very same firmware build has been made available for the aforementioned tablet users in Nordic and Baltic regions. The update will be made available to more regions of the world in the forthcoming days, reports the Xperia Blog.

Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

According to another Xperia Blog post, the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact’s both the Wi-Fi edition devices with model numbers SGP611 and SGP612 are receiving the OTA update. Also, the LTE variant with model number SGP621 is receiving the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update.

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

As far as the Xperia Z2 Tablet is concerned, the Lollipop update is available for 16 GB storage Wi-Fi only variant with model number SGP511. The update is currently available for the 32 GB Wi-Fi only variant. The 16 GB Xperia Z2 Tablet with model number SGP521 that supports LTE connectivity is being updated with the 5.0.2 Lollipop.

The official Sony Mobile post on the arrival of Lollipop firmware states that the released version brings on a minimalistic appearance. It brings along couple of enhancements such as multiple user profiles, guest mode, ability to move apps from internal storage to the external storage, the lockscreen and the notifications sports a revamped appeal and more. Sony has proclaimed that it will release Lollipop updates for all the Xperia Z devices with a time span of two weeks.
