“American Horror Story” had always had its doors shut when an upcoming season is coming. The showrunners always had their way of keeping the next one’s theme under wraps until the last minute. But, not this time. Ryan Murphy was surprisingly gracious enough to reveal the next storyline without much begging. Still, nobody would have guessed that Season 7 would have the controversial 2016 US presidential elections as its focus.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “American Horror Story” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens before the next episode airs.

While “AHS” season 7 will be about the recently concluded US elections, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will not actually be in it. Perhaps he was thinking of something else, but Murphy admitted that the two presidential candidates will be played by actors. He was also clear in stating that the season will not be all about just them.

Murphy clarified that a lot of people think series favourite Sarah Paulson will be playing Hillary Clinton. This is not true. The series had always been about allegory and, this time, it will be anchored on politics. This is where the jump-off point will be and, from there, they can take on what happened on a particular night and the fallout from such. This translates to a whole new plane of horrors.

Pop Sugar reports that Murphy said earlier that he has not yet cast Clinton and Trump. They are already halfway through the writing process. He also claimed that the show will begin on election night -- and it will be very scary for a lot of people. He promises that it will be an interesting season and that there will be something there for everybody.

Even with this vital information on “AHS” season 7, it still leaves a lot of questions that need to be answered. Some predict that the next “American Horror Story” will take a wider view of the election. There is also this possibility that they would focus on a family who is affected by the election in a manner worth turning into a horror story.

American Horror Story” Season 6 ended in November 2016. The launch date for Season 7 has yet to be announced, although fans are optimistic that the show will return late in 2017 on FX in the US. In Australia, the show airs on Channel Eleven.
