Sept. 9 is the big release date that Apple fan boys and cheer girls have been waiting for. By this time tomorrow, we will know the status of the two iPhone 6 models and other surprising announcements and devices from Apple. However, we now have information that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 phablet is called "iPhone 6 Plus."

First time in the history of Apple, the iPhones are going to be huge in size when compared to all its predecessors following the current trend set by Android counterparts. Also there is a surge in the leaks pertaining to both iPhone 6 models on the overall look, battery, screen and internal components, among others in the past few weeks. The run up to the iPhone 6 release date has been nothing but a roller coaster of a ride with many believable speculations to some over-the-top questionable rumours. Nevertheless, all these rumours have helped us get an idea of how the upcoming iPhone 6 will be on the release date.

In the meanwhile, recent reports point to iPhone 6 Plus as the official name of the 5.5-inch phablet, while earlier rumours indicated that 4.7-inch model will be dubbed iPhone Air. But now, a Japanese report says that the 4.7-inch model will just be Apple iPhone 6, according to GSM Arena.

It is worth noting that, Apple utilised the "Plus" moniker for Mac Plus earlier. Nevertheless, the same Japanese source predicted the monikers of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in 2013. Hence, there is good chance that the aforementioned information on the names might as well be correct, says the same publication.

In addition to the monikers, the colour details are also out. Reportedly, the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models will come in three hues namely space gray, gold and silver. Furthermore, Apple is expected to provide 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage capacity similar to its predecessor iPhone 5S. However, the rumoured 128 GB in-built storage capacity is still hanging in the air without any confirmation.

Even if the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 phablet is introduced in Sept. 9 event, there is a good chance that the device will be released only during December time frame, says the same publication.

Moreover, Apple is reportedly working on a rewards program for its mobile payments scheme that is speculated to be part of the upcoming iPhone 6 models, according to Macrumors. Also, the company is working with several partners to make this program work. The publication also opines that a trademarked rewards scheme could elevate Apple devices from the rest, especially in the mobile payments scheme.

If reports are true, Apple has partnered with several credit card companies like MasterCard, American Express and Visa, to name a few. In addition, the company is set to strike a deal with retailers for its payment service like Walgreens, CVS and Nordstrom.

Notably, Apple's mobile payment program will reportedly utilise NFC. Therefore, the company that evaded the use of NFC for long-time now will have no choice but to integrate the connectivity option in its iPhone 6, says MacRumors. Nevertheless, there is no information available on the scope and the timing of introduction of this service. However, more information will be revealed during the Apple event that is just around the corner.
