Google has taken the first steps to meet a European ruling that citizens can have objectionable links removed from Internet search results, a ruling that pleased privacy campaigners but raised fears that the right can be abused to hide negative information. Even though we have seen quite a bunch of leaks and speculations in the past few months, the ever-trustable "The Wall Street Journal" affirms that Google will announce its 5.9-inch Nexus device in October. However, the naming confusion still persists with Nexus 6, Nexus X and Motorola Shamu floating around.

The upcoming Nexus smartphone is being manufactured by none-other-than Motorola with a code-name Shamu. Apparently, the new device will be the most-advanced Nexus handset ever made. The humongous 5.9-inch display will be complemented by a killer screen resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The smartphone will be powered by the latest quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, clocked at 2.65 GHz and will be backed by a substantial 3 GB of RAM, according to Phone Arena.

Furthermore, the Nexus handset will sport a good 12 MP rear-facing camera unit. To power the under the hood configurations the smartphone will come equipped with a powerful 3200 mAh battery unit. The WSJ publication also opines that Android L will also be unveiled during the same Google event. Being a Google device has its advantage, the upcoming device will run on the latest Android v5.0 aka Android L.

According to The WSJ, the large-screened phablets accounted for 1% of global smartphone shipments way back in 2011. Going by Strategy Analytics report, the phablets sales will record a 24% jump in the market in 2014. This is one of the main reason why Apple switched to a bigger screen with its latest release of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It is worth mentioning that, Steve Jobs infamously said no one's going to buy a smartphone with a bigger display.

Neil Mawston, analyst at Strategy Analytics says, "The phablet wars are in full effect and vendors need any possible edge they can get." "Having a large phone will help Google," he added further.

If reports are true, the Nexus X, Nexus 6 or Motorola Shamu will be launched either on Oct. 15 or Oct. 16. Also, as far as the pricing goes, the Nexus device will set you back by $419, which is apparently the starting price. In comparison, the 5.7-inch iPhone 6 Plus price starts at $749 and $800 in the U.S. and Asia, respectively. Plus, the upcoming Nexus device was spotted in GeekBench Benchmark testing site and it trumped all other Android devices fair and square.
