Apple's 12-inch MacBook Air with super-thin profile is back in the news. Reportedly, Quanta Computer has already started the production work on the upcoming refreshed version of MacBook. The production will be in full swing from November.

However, there are several reports making waves online that Apple MacBook Air will not be available on the promised time frame of Christmas season. This is mainly because the initial production of the MacBook Air units is not up to the adequate level to conform to the anticipated demand. Apart from Quanta Computer, several internal parts manufacturers are also trying their best to increase the production, according to MacRumors.

Limited production indicates that the 12-inch MacBook Air will not be released in the holiday season. In specific, components/parts manufacturers are facing difficulties in making the super-thin chassis for the MacBook Air. The original, current-generation MacBook Air model comes with a thickness of 13-inch, whereas Apple's expectation is to slim down the next-generation MacBook model to 11-inch.

Additionally the same publication reports that, the new MacBook model will feature the much-loved Retina display with touch-screen capability, also known as trackpad. Earlier rumours pointed out that the 12-inch MacBook Air variant will come in different hues. Moreover, Apple will reportedly offer MacBook Air in gold, silver and space gray colours, which are primarily seen in Apple iPhones. Notably, the current-generation MacBook variants come in aluminium hue.

In addition, Jack March also opined that the device will house fan-less internals. The ultimate goodness in going without fan is that, under the hood the notebook will have an energy efficient processor to handle the heat produced inside the device. Meaning, an extremely low-power processor would do the job for Apple. An example would be Intel's latest Broadwell-Y Core M processor.

Nevertheless, a touch-capable Retina display for the MacBook means the device will be very costly. If reports are true, the 12-inch MacBook Air model will hit the store shelves sometime in the mid of next year. Plus, Apple is also planning to launch 12.9-inch iPad Pro towards the beginning of 2015.

In retrospect, the last update made by Apple on its 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models was back in April. However, the refreshed versions did not undergo any major change except for the limited specification upgrade and reduced price, says Apple Insider.
