With the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus accomplished, Apple is reportedly gearing up to release a super-thin MacBook notebook with 12-inch display.

Apart from the slim form factor, the upcoming MacBook notebook will also feature the much-loved Retina display and a trackpad with no buttons. If reports are true, the notebook will not come equipped with a fan. Meaning, under the hood the device will have an energy efficient processor/hard drive to tackle the heat. Even though speculations were rife that such a notebook will be released in the second half of this year, the announcement was delayed. Apparently, the production issue pertaining to Intel's Broadwell chips was the reason behind the delay in release, reports MacRumors.

However, fresh report states that the production of the 12-inch MacBook model is in progress. Very interestingly, the 12-inch MacBook variant will come in gold, silver and space gray shades that are predominantly seen in Apple iPhone series of smartphones. It is worth noting that, the current MacBook model comes in aluminium shade.

Earlier rumours pointed to a release date towards the end of 2014 or early 2015. However, according to the latest report the upcoming 12-inch MacBook variant will be released only towards the middle of 2015. Ming-Chi Kuo, the credible and trustworthy analyst from KGI Securities predicted that the new MacBook model will come with a Retina display.

Furthering his opinion, NPD Display Search also opined that Apple will not miss out this display feature in its upcoming device. Additionally, a Chinese source also claimed that the 12-inch MacBook model will house a new cooling system. This is again in-line with the latest report that there is a fan-less notebook design in the offing.

When it comes to sales statistics, Apple has reportedly shipped a total of 4.41 million Mac line of devices within April and June 2014 time frame. This translates to a 7% surge in sales when compared to the quarter before. With the demand for the Mac devices increasing, it is only fair that Apple utilise this trend to bring out the next-generation notebook with killer improvements.
