Valve has been slowly making its way to the hardware video gaming market, and its most recent venture is a new controller. The new Steam Controller is indeed a good buy, but Mac owners should think otherwise before purchasing the device.

The compatibility of the Steam Controller on Mac OS computers is quite questionable but Valve has issued an apology to its customers, Polygon reports. Those Mac owners who has pre-ordered the Valve streaming device called Steam Link and a Steam Controller will be given access to all of Valve’s titles, both old and new.

Apparently, the Steam Link cannot stream any games from Macs. The Steam Link is similar to TV streaming devices but it is geared towards gaming. Being unable to stream any games from Macs renders the Steam Link useless to its owners unless they have a Windows PC.

The other issue with the Steam hardwares is that the Steam Controller cannot support gamepad emulation on Macs. However, Valve is still looking for a solution towards these problems. In a recent email, Valve expressed their willingness to fix the issues but no timeframe has been given by the company.

To give back to loyal fans, Valve gave users The Valve Complete Pack for free. The game bundle will cost players a retail price of US$99.99 (AUD 137. 48). The package will include all of the games by Valve, and even those yet to be released.

Titles include all of the “Half-Life” games, “Left 4 Dead,” “Left 4 Dead 2,” “Portal,” “Team Fortress 2” and “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.” There is a total of 24 items in the jam-packed bundle.

The email also notes that customers can also opt to request a refund for the Steam Controller or Steam Link. Requesting a refund would still give buyers access to the Valve Complete Pack.
