The launch of new mobile device which has the capacity of doubling data speeds over the Next G network is scheduled to be released by the year end.

According to Telstra, with the Telstra Ultimate USB, one will be able to surf the Internet of download files up to a speed of twice as fast as those who are using the 3G modem currently available on a national network of Australia.

Telstra has also planned to roll the device out to rural and regional areas of Australia such as Newcastle, Alice Springs and Broome concurrently with releasing the device in the metropolitan areas.

According to Computerworld Australia, Telstra had recently commissioned the company's 7,000th Next base station.

At the beginning of the week, Telstra has also announced their plan to roll out their latest set top box called the T-Box later within the month.
