From Seabiscuit to Spiderman and now a film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's famous novel, The Great Gatsby, Tobey Maguire sure seems like he's fond of donning costumes.

The film was directed by Baz Luhrman and has superstars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan in the cast. With such a sound ensemble, this film shows promise and may make for an enjoyable treat.

Tobey Maguire is set to play Nick Carraway (the narrator), a graduate from Yale who fought in the first World War and has returned home to begin a career. He becomes restless and moves to Long Island, New York where he meets the mysterious & young millionaire Jay Gatsby, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Soon enough, Carraway reveals the true nature of his friends' fortune and shady past.

Baz Luhrman, born and raised in New South Wales, Australia, has only directed 4 other blockbuster/Hollywood films but has seen cinematic success in all of them.

With a powerful cast and an intelligent director. This film may come as a surprise for everybody but one must say that the potential in creating a masterpiece out of it is not very farfetched.
