Telstra: Value added mobile data packages
Telstra announced an amendment to the mobile post-data packages of their consumer, reducing prices across the board and bringing in more alternatives behind the success of the HTC Desire phone device.
Telstra stated that they surged up the value in their Browsing Pack by increasing the included data in each packages significantly, as well as lessening the excess usage rate for most of the packages. Additionally, some packages have decreased in price, as well as providing new plans for users at the 3GB and 6GB usage points.
As an example, the $5 Post-paid Browsing Pack currently has 30MB of data, which is six times the previous amount. The 9GB plan cost has been decreased to $99 monthly from $199 and the excess usage rate per MB for the $5 plan has decreased by a value of 75 cents and by 20 cents for the 9GB plan.
The 1GB plan is currently worth $39 per month, saving $20 per month on the active plan structures, although this is still very much more than the equivalent data packs on other networks that normally costs about $20 for 1GB of included data. Also, Telstra is already charging $19 for 1GB on business customers; it is uncertain why consumer data bundles are over double the cost for the similar service.
