Microsoft created a lot of buzz earlier this month with its new laptop-tablet hybrid, the Surface Book. The device has many new features and delivers great performance on its Windows 10 OS that puts a more positive spin on its productivity.

Microsoft’s Surface line of hybrids has improved over time, but the new Surface Book is what a Surface laptop should be. Despite a few quirks like need to have power-on for removing the screen, the “laplet” has received a lot of praise from critics.

Joanna Stern of The Wall Street Journal was so pleased with the device she felt Microsoft should have created something like this years before, reports BGR.com. Likewise, critics agree that the debut laptop successfully ended all arguments about a laplet because of its unique, gorgeous and powerful features.

The Surface Book looks similar to any conventional laptop, but here’s where it’s different. It has a detachable screen that converts into a wide screen making it look like a tablet.

The keyboard is soft and easy to the touch, thus making it convenient for users to navigate. Critics believe there hasn’t been a more functional and fast-reacting keyboard on Microsoft mobile devices as this one, reported Techcrunch.

What makes it so good? The new hybrid can be used both as a laptop and a tablet. For a heavy-use computer user, the Surface Book efficiently meets his needs. The same can’t be said for light users, however. For them, the Surface Book might be a beast too powerful -- and too expensive.

As for hardware specifications, the device is almost ideal despite its staggering price. The laptop’s “bendable straw” feature that allows users to fold the device into A4 folder-style curves is fun to use.

The touchpad could be better and the price is hefty for light-use computer users that should stick to cheaper devices. The battery life isn’t that bad but is definitely not that good either.
