Some of the characters featuring in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will first appear in a video game from the franchise, according to a new report. The game “Star Wars: Battlefront” will also reportedly feature some of the opening scenes from the upcoming movie.

“Star Wars: Battlefront” is a video game being developed by DICE. The FPS game also allows players to pilot combat vehicles from the movies like Snowspeeders, Speeder Bikes and AT-STs. According to a report by MakingStarWars, players will also be able to choose some of the characters featuring in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

The game will also have playable characters from both the Republic’s side as well as the Empire’s side. All the characters featuring in the trailers of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will reportedly feature in the game.

The characters that fans have so far seen in the first official trailer are Oscar Isaac as the Republic fighter pilot Poe Dameron, John Boyega as Finn in a Stormtrooper uniform and Daisy Ridley as the character Rey. The three actors from the original trilogy -- Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher -- were missing in the first trailer.

Most of the campaign in “Star Wars: Battlefront” is reportedly based on the original trilogy. Some of the stories in the campaign may bridge the gap between “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Towards the end of the campaign, players will reportedly be able to see some of the opening segments of the upcoming movie.

“Star Wars: Battlefront” will reportedly have up to five packs of downloadable content. The first two or three downloadable packs are said to be exclusively based on “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Some of the new vehicles in the upcoming movie such as the new X-wing fighters and the new TIE fighters will reportedly feature in the video game.

One planet that is listed to feature in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is Tatooine, according to the report. The desert planet has so far featured in the first movie of both the trilogies from the franchise. The report, however, notes that there is no “concrete evidence” that the planet will feature in the upcoming movie.
