A new official announcement states that the “next generation” of collectibles, books and apparel focusing on “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be released on Sept 4, 2015 on a “Force Friday.” Stores around the world will open at midnight for the special event.

May 4 has been called as “Star Wars Day” by the fans. Fans jokingly say “May the Fourth be with you” on this day, which sounds similar to the dialogue “May the Force be with you” from the movies. The official website of the franchise has made a special announcement that the fans will soon get to buy the merchandise of the upcoming movie.

“Every lightsaber, every action figure, every LEGO set tells a story for generations of Star Wars fans,” said Josh Silverman executive vice president global licensing Disney Consumer Products. The products will be available at mass retailers and Disney Stores worldwide. Fans may also buy the products at the online Disney store after launch.

The announcement urges fans to “document their experience” of buying the products of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” online. Fans have been encouraged to use the hashtags #ForceFriday and #MidnightMadness during the launch.

The report also includes an image of a product package showing the image of the “mysterious new villain” Kylo Ren. The product packaging with Kylo Ren’s image will become available with purchase of “Star Wars” products beginning from Sept 4. Josh Silverman said that his company is excited to be a part of the countdown to the launch of the products.

Going forward, all the books, comics and other material released will be considered canon. One of the upcoming comics from the franchise is the second issue of “Kanan: The Last Padawan.” The comic will tell the story of the character during the time when the Empire was being formed and all the Jedi were hunted. A preview of the comic has been posted on the official “Star Wars” website.

Kanan also appears in the ongoing animation series from the franchise that chronicles the rise of the rebellion against the Empire. Fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting to see if there are any characters from “Star Wars: Rebels” who will appear in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
