The Sony PlayStation will be made to play 3D movies, subsequent to their games upgrade last month, preparing for the blitz of 3D games and movies package anticipated to be released by end of this year.

According to The Australian, Michael Ephraim, the managing director of Sony PlayStation, the company wanted the PS3 to be the "ultimate entertainment device". Sony PlayStation also established a motion controller that will be Sony's answer to Nintendo's Wii.

There are approximately 850,000 homes in Australia that owns a PS3, half a million of which are registered users of the PlayStation Network from which they are able to download high definition and standard movies.

The download media revolution is rolling somewhere else with Telstra expected to launch its Tbox personal video recorder shortly, which transfers the internet TV channels, film and TV download service from computer to television.

Telstra will also be offering its versions' content to all internet-connected televisions through agreements with Samsung and LG, with other expected announcements to come along.

The PlayStation Network is being supplied with movies by six movie studios with films ranging at $3.99 to rent and $7.99 to own. Even better, both will be available to be viewed on the PlayStation Portable.
