Everybody wants to lose weight quick. In fact, there are numerous advertisements that promote fast weight loss treatments through pills and diet plans. While a few may believe these quick weight loss methods, others are skeptical about it. The good news is that irrespective of whether these methods work, there remain a few tried and tested ways to follow to shed some pounds.

"You can safely lose three or more pounds a week at home with a healthy diet and lots of exercise," said weight loss counselor Katherine Tallmadge, RD to WebMD. Here are a few steps that will help you burn that unwanted fat as fast as possible.

Make small changes in your eating habits

Most of the time, you decide to start a diet that you end up not following as strictly as you thought you would. However, making small changes in your diet will help. Marissa Lippert, RD, author of The Cheater's Diet told that making small changes in your diet and making healthy choices, such as doing exercises, can lead to fast weight loss more than you would have imagined.

Follow the easy diet

A meal needs to be nutritious with a balanced proportion of food. Eating more vegetables, fruits, skinless poultry breasts, egg whites, non-fat dairy foods and 95 per cent lean meat helps in rapid loss of weight, said Michael Dansinger to WebMD. Dansinger is the doctor assigned to supervise NBC's 'The Biggest Loser'.

According to Cosmopolitan, Jana Klauer, M.D., author of The Park Avenue Nutritionist's Plan, white grain products must be completely eliminated from the diet. Carbohydrates get digested fast and make you hungry quick. Klauer recommends one to make a healthy replacement that keeps you full and is healthy at the same time.

Exercise is a must

If you thought you could lose weight without exercise, then you were wrong. Cardio is the best routine to follow as you involve all your muscles and will burn a lot of calories, advised Wendy Larkin, personal-training manager at Crunch's Polk Street gym, in San Francisco.

Dansinger shares the same views, and stated that cardio helps burn the most amount of fat and is ideal for weight loss. However, he also recommended that it must be later followed by strength training. Before doing any sort of exercise though, it is still best to consult your physician.

Coffee before a workout helps

Coffee helps burn more calories. Hence, it is advisable to drink coffee an hour before exercising. Make sure to use skim milk or drink black coffee.
