Samsung Galaxy S5 could end up with a wrap-around display. The smartphone is rumored for release around April or May 2014 with the next generation YOUM technology, making it the company's new flagship device.

The device will have a display, which wraps around the smartphone's sides. Three display sides will independently operate so that notifications and other tasks can be accomplished by touching the phone sides. It is expected to trade its plastic build for a new metal, waterproof and dustproof options. Samsung acquired a carbon fiber specialist, the SGL group, for its high-end lightweight materials for future tablets and phones. The design has become an essential factor both in industrial applications and consumer end markets such as digital media.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is also set to improve other handset elements such as the 64-bit processor and 16-megapixel ISOCELL rear (and front) camera with optical image stabilization features, and the display that will significantly increase resolution. It will also have as much as 4GB of RAM. While it might duplicate the iPhone 5S CPU, the company announced that the S5 will not include an integrated fingerprint scanner. There is no surprise that the phone will run Google's latest version of Android operating system.

Samsung will introduce AMOLED panels with pixel densities of up to 560ppi in 2014. This blows past HTC, which currently has the One with 460ppi. Samsung will also move from full HD to WQHD or 2560 x 1440 pixels. The company also looks into taking it further with UHD or better known as 4K in 2015. This high display resolution could be unnecessary on a handset, but is still a good selling point for Samsung to outpace competition.

The Samsung Galaxy S5's chip could spell improved multitasking and increased speeds of up to 2,133 megabits per second per pin in a slimmer phone with a longer battery life. The price is still a long way from confirmation, but S5 is believed to cost more than its costly predecessor. Because of the metal bodied design, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will further be bumped up along the sides of Apple's premium products.
