Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update: How to Quickly Install Mobile Software
Although the 4.2.2 version of Android Jelly Bean OS for Samsung Galaxy S3 is not yet released, users can download and install the said version with the ROM from CyanogenMod
Samsung Galaxy S3 was released running with the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android operating system and was updated to the 4.1 version of Jelly Bean OS.
Switching to 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS will brought about new features such as better camera software.
The ROM has the name of CM10.1 and if you have the device with the model number SGH-i747, you can go ahead and make the update. Before you do you should check the details of the ROM on the CyanogenMod website.
First, ensure that you have ClockworkMOD installed and should have made a backup of the device and download the CM10.1 ROM and Google Apps APK.
Below is the step-by-step procedure on how you can quickly install Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update in your Samsung Galaxy S3.
1: Connect your Samsung Galaxy S3 to your computer via micro USB cable.
2: Copy and paste the downloaded CM10.1 M3 Android 4.2.2 ROM to your Samsung Galaxy S3 (latest version available on official CyanogenMod website).
3: Switch the device off and detach the USB cable.
4: Press and hold the Power + Volume Up + Home Button to enter ClockWorkMode Recovery.
5: In Recovery menu, you are always recommended to perform a full Wipe Data/Factory Reset to avoid crashing and ROM compatibility issues. It is an optional step if you upgrade from your previous ROM version. For CWM recovery, use Volume key to navigate in Recovery Mode. For TWRP, use touchscreen to navigate in Recovery Mode.
6: Do Wipe Cache Partition - Select from the menu and select Yes to confirm.
7: Go to advanced and do Wipe Dalvik Cache - Select from the menu and select Yes to confirm.
8: From the main menu in Recovery, select the install zip from SDcard, then select choose zip from internal SDcard, browse to folder location and select the CM10.1 M3 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM and click Yes to install.
9: Back to main menu in Recovery, select the install zip from SDcard, then select choose zip from internal SDcard, browse to folder location and select the Google Apps file and click Yes to install.
10: After the installation completes, go back to recovery main menu.
11. Select reboot system now to reboot the Samsung Galaxy S3.
12. For first boot up, it normally take the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 a longer time. Please wait patiently and you should be sitting on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
