A lot of fans have started to speculate on what could be coming with the next major PS4 firmware update. This follows the comment teaser of Sony’s Fred Dutton regarding the not-so-far arrival of the newest PS4 firmware update. And considering how long it has been since the PS4 firmware 2.0 update has come out, it’s not surprising that fans are excited about the possible new feature coming.

However, Dutton’s teaser could not be any vaguer, as there is no hint of month or even the quarter with which it will be releasing. But thanks to industry insider Tidux, an exact schedule for the next PS4 firmware update may have just been revealed. Gamepur has spotted the tweets from Tidux, which pinpoint next month as the release date.

“The new FW will be released on or around 29/3 #PS4,” said Tidux in his tweet. Apart from this, he teased to fans that the update is big and will bear new features for the PS4.

What those feature are, however, have not been divulged. Over at the PS4 Reddit, fans have already started to discuss what these features may be. There has been mention of the folder option similar to the PS3, the suspend/resume feature for games, the ability to delete or hide things in the library and DLNA support, among others.

Considering how Microsoft has been listening to fans and bringing in new and requested features to the Xbox One, it’s time for Sony to also step up in the game. In the meantime, Tidux’s tweets are nothing more than speculation at this point. It’s best to wait until Sony gives more than just hints as to the release date of the next major PS4 firmware update.

Speaking of confirmed updates, however, PS3 players will need to update their consoles as Sony rolls out the PS3 firmware update 4.70. DualShockers has spotted the new update, which brings a few minor changes to the console. Some of the changes include support for Closed Captions in Blu-Ray playbacks and style adjustment for the closed captions.

But what is notable in the update is the change in design for the PlayStation Network. The report states that the new logo matches the colour of the current Sony Computer Entertainment branding. Check out the link for the spanking new logo, as well as a step-by-step guide to updating the PS3.
