The Indianapolis Colts have officially signed veteran running back Frank Gore, who was initially reported to be going to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in the offseason of the National Football League, or NFL. The Colts’ offer is at 8.5 million guaranteed, according to reports.

Adam Schefter, NFL Insider for ESPN, reported the deal on Twitter.

The Colts’ official Twitter account also confirmed the deal and welcomed the veteran to the team with a post.

Just last Sunday, there were reports that Gore was nearing to finalise a deal with the Eagles after spending the last 10 seasons with one team, the San Francisco 49ers. By Tuesday, updates stated that Gore was reconsidering his options in free agency and was considering the Colts as his next team.

Also according to Scheffer in an earlier tweet, the Colts made an offer for Gore before the Eagles’ contract offer and apparently Indianapolis was willing to give him a better contract than they initially offered.
The 31 year old Gore will be entering his 11th season in the NFL.

Gore has been consistent in his tenure in San Francisco registering 1,000-plus years in eight of 10 seasons with the 49ers. Gore is is San Francisco’s all time rushing yards leader with 11,073 career rushing yards and is considered around the league as one of the guys who bring positive influence in the locker room and the Colts value his veteran leadership.

The Colts had a successful season in 2014 but ranked 22nd overall in average rushing yards at 100.8 per game. Indianapolis, behind star quarterback Andrew Luck, finished the season 1st in passing yards per game at 305.9 and the acquisition of Gore is expected to give the Colts a more balanced offence.
