The original "Clock Tower" series may have a special place in the hearts of people who grew up in the original PlayStation era of the 90's, but the game itself didn't set the world on fire. It was a good game for fans that remember it fondly, but at the time it was overshadowed by the massive success of other horror titles like "Resident Evil" and "Silent Hill." That being said you can see that a few games were influenced by the underrated series; its focus on pure survival with almost no combat can be seen in other games that perfected the system like "Amnesia" and "Five Nights at Freddy's."

At one point there was a plan for a live action film of the game, with director David R. Ellis of "Snakes on a Plane" fame involved with the project. However Ellis tragically passed away and the "Clock Tower" film is back in development hell with no future plans announced.

Now Arcade Sushi reports that the original creator of the series Hifumi Koto has returned for a new survival horror game that is coming to mobile devices and the PlayStation Vita and is heavily influenced by his horror baby: "NightCry." Originally given the test name "Project Scissors" the game almost looks like a direct sequel if the trailer given can be trusted, with the isolated setting and the stalking of a familiar phantasm. The trailer even has the Scissor Man who many fans consider the "Clock Tower" equivalent of Pyramid Head from "Silent Hill."

No release date was given for the game, though Siliconera has confirmed that the director of the trailer is horror icon Takashi Shimizu who is most well known for "The Grudge" and will be aiding Koto with the game. Renowned composer Noboku Toda who worked on the soundtrack of "Metal Gear Solid" among other things will do the game's score and Pyramid Head creator Masahiro Ito will also be involved in the project. No other details have been given and only time will tell when the next set of teasers is bound to hit.
