Coders Rest In The Office Of Swedish Company Mojang In Stockholm
Coders rest in the Mojang company office in Stockholm January 21, 2013. A pool table, a pinball machine, board games and Lego dot the offices of Mojang, the small Swedish company behind the wildly popular Minecraft video game, and one of its founders is wearing a tuxedo and purple tie on a recent "formal Friday". The atmosphere reflects the independent spirit that has contributed to the raw identity of the game that has just sold 20 million copies. The founders want to keep it that way. Mojang, the Swedish word for gadget, has so far resisted selling to a bigger player or listing on the stock market even though that could mean monster payoffs for the 25-person staff and funding to expand dramatically its games. “Minecraft” may be moving from just the blocky game that a lot of fans play on many platforms—it may dominate augmented reality next. Fans of the building title were not left behind during the Microsoft Windows 10 event. A demo of “Minecraft” on the company’s HMD showed a glimpse of a world that takes “Minecraft” to the next level.

Gamerant reports that “Minecraft” was showcased with the HoloLens, and the snapshot above shows how “Minecraft” can play out in your very own living room surrounding you as the player. According to the source, this makes “Minecraft” all the more immersive, but with the added interactive feel. This is because you can easily point to the block where you want to construct.

Beyond games, the very possibility of its application can be boundless. Considering the many projects that have been created by “Minecraft” fans, it may not be long before this device, compounded with the game, could become a great building tool to benefit many. For now, however, this remains as plans, but the reception and following of “Minecraft” in Microsoft should demonstrate the loyalty of its fanbase.

The Minecraft experience with Microsoft’s HoloLens is not the only new thing that fans are now expecting a lot from. Earlier this week, Mojang’s Nathan Adams (a.k.a. Dinnerbone) has teased the developments for “Minecraft 1.9 Update.”

“People guessed what yesterday’s screenshot was, so I’ll confirm it here. I am redoing the Ender Dragon’s boss fight for ‘Minecraft 1.9,” said Dinnerbone over his official Twitter.

Going into specifics, the developer stated that he is currently redoing the mechanics so that it will reflect what can be seen in the console edition. But more than redoing, the developer will be adding in more to the mix, though he did not expound on these plans.

Already fans are giving their two cents’ worth over at the Minecraft Reddit page regarding what could come with “Minecraft 1.9 Update.” A lot of comments revolved around the fix for boats as fans can already see its use transportation-wise. Apart from boats, other additions expected include world crafting, arrow immunity and other building materials. It’s only a matter of time until the developer finally announces the next batch of screenshots for “Minecraft 1.9 Update.”
