Mandriva looking for a buyer
Mandriva, an outfit which produces nice distribution of the Linux operating system, is now out for sale.
The financial situation of the company has drastically declined this year and the only remaining option is apparently selling of the company.
There are two outfits hitherto that might be likely to cover up the needed cash. The first probable outfit is the Lightapp based on Blighty and the second probable outfit is Linagora which is a French company.
According to Inquirer, Linagora stated that it was interested because it wants to fortify its position in France and the rest of the world.
The Mandriva Linux developer community generally seems rather relaxed about the whole situation.
It seems people believe that while the outfit makes a pretty good Linux distribution, it has the business insight analogous to those who thought sub-prime finances would be good savings for their retirement.
The Mandriva company has always been financially poor and has underwent several bankruptcy reorganization before. It is now expected that the buyer will make available a combination of capital and support operating expenditures while it builds up a more feasible business model for the company.
