Fans should get ready to shout “Great Scott!” as the crew from “Little Big Planet 3” gets a “Back to the Future” trip, via a downloadable content (DLC) pack. The pack was released to help celebrate “Back to the Future” day on Oct. 21, due to the significance of that date to the film’s sequel.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the contents of the “Back to the Future” DLC include a brand new level for Sackboy and his friends to traverse through, a new Hover Board power up, three “Back to the Future” costume packs and more. Each costume pack comes from each film in the trilogy, so fans can choose between Marty McFly and his cowboy version.

The new level for the game is clearly inspired by the film, as Sackboy and his friends are trapped in the past and have to find parts that will activate the DeLorean and bring them back to the future, no pun intended. In an interesting twist however, the level lets the characters go through portals and different time periods to find the parts, which is an interesting use of the time travel theme.

Adding the Hover Board to the game was also a nice touch and a sad reminder that they don’t exist in the real world. The power up will probably make travelling in the game easier and should be fun to use.

Movie fans regard the “Back to the Future” trilogy as some of the more entertaining films to come out of the late 80’s and early 90’s. The second film in particular has resonated with fans; due to the hilarious way 2015 is portrayed, with hover boards, cars that run on water and characters that dress up like “Mad Max” skateboarders.

This isn’t the first time the “Little Big Planet” series has used popular media for DLC packs. Previous games had costumes based on “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” and characters from the DC and Marvel movies.

Players can pick up the “Back to the Future” DLC for $4.99. The costume packs for the game cost $5.99 each according to Polygon. “Little Big Planet 3” is available on the PS3 and PS4.
