The HTC President for Global Sales, Jason Mackenzie, made an announcement on the social networking site Twitter about the HTC One Developer Edition skipping over the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and having the Android 4.3 update instead. It appears the decision was made because the latest Android update is already close since the Android 4.2.2 update only offered limited benefit to the customers.

Tech news Web site Phone Arena spotted Mr Mackenzie's messages on his Twitter account @JasonMacHTC. They are responses to the inquiry of Twitter user @jmwein about the Android 4.2.2 launch on the Verizon HTC One while the Developers Edition is still stuck with the Android 4.1 update.

The HTC President posted: "@jmwein we definitely care and want you to have great experience. 2.2 is minor update so decided to go straight to 4.3." When further asked about the latest Android update's arrival date, Mr Mackenzie revealed that the plan was to release it before September ends.

"Our plan/target (since certification is necessary) is that all US skus (stock-keeping units) will be updated before September end. I am pushing this one and hope it can be earlier. But sometimes unknowns can arise," Jason Mackenzie responded.

The HTC One Developer Edition handset, which HTC officially announced earlier this 2013, has an unlocked bootloader with 64GB of internal storage capacity and it is targeting those who wants to develop custom ROMs for the HTC One. Other devices have received the Android 4.3 update earlier this August like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play Editions.

However, it has been previously reported that the Galaxy S4 Google Edition users were upset with the issue on the SD card storage. The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer currently sells the HTC One Developer Edition in the United States without an agreement and SIM-free at $649.99 price.

Additionally, no confirmation has been made yet on the precise date that the HTC One smartphone will receive the Android 4.3 update at other U.S. carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.
