The well-being index of National Australia Bank recently presented that older Australian women are among the happiest. The survey involved over 2,100 people and was taken from mid to late November 2014.

Trading Room wrote that women older than 50 years old who live in a regional city in Queensland are among the happiest. However, older women from Victoria were ranked the unhappiest, together with 18 to 29-year-old females, rural residents and individuals who finished their high school education.

Based on the index, women who are married or widowed and not working were as satisfied as those who have two children. People who do not have any kids were shown to be happier compared to those with one child or more than three children. In terms of education, Australians with a diploma were slightly happier compared to people who have a bachelor or post-graduate degree. In terms of income, Australians earning $75,000 to $100,000 were the happiest while people earning less than $35,000 were the unhappiest.

According to the NAB wellbeing index, anxiety was a major factor that affected the personal wellbeing of several Australians. Australians were particularly concerned about the cost of living and access to healthcare. People were still anxious despite the price of petrol in its lowest in 5 years. Those who received low salaries or did not have a job were most concerned about healthcare.

Some of the reasons to smile that women gave included being qualified for a diploma, vocational or university, not having to work, earning between $35,000 and $100,000 and having a technical, sales or clerical job. Women also reported being happy about staying single, although they are expected to be anxious.

The Melbourne Institute reported that Australians are most satisfied with their safety in their home and neighborhood and are unhappiest when they have an inflexible job and lack of free time. Also, people with good health, own a house, living with a partner or a member of a club are happier compared to those who do not. Women are also more likely to report lower satisfaction in any type of relationship, except that with their children. News.com also reported that women are able to maintain strong social connections and relationships, whether they have kids or not.
