Bradley Cooper recently stirred speculations about the identity of Star-Lord’s father after his interview about “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.” The actor teased that Thanos could be Peter Quill a.k.a Star Lord’ dad. However, before fans go wild with their theories, movie director James Gunn took to Twitter to clarify Cooper’s statements during his interview.

Gunn made sure to point out that Copper still has no knowledge of the “Guardians of the Galaxy 2“storyline. He also has not spoiled the film.

The director, ever active on social media, also wrote a lengthy response on his Facebook about all the news concerning Thanos in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.” Gunn once again defended the sequel from any spoilers by saying that Cooper has yet to read the script and that he clearly didn’t know what he was talking about during his interview with MTV International.

“So I woke up this morning to a thousand posts about Bradley Cooper having revealed that the primary villain in GotG Vol. 2 is Thanos and, oh yeah, he's also Quill's Dad. Just to let you all know Bradley just got the script and hasn't read it yet so even if Bradley wanted to spoil these things he couldn't. After watching Bradley's interview it seems pretty clear to me that he simply forgot Thanos' name, was calling him the Big Bad of GotG Vol. 1, which he kind of was, and was also calling him Ronan's father, but I can see where it might be confusing,” Gunn wrote.

Gunn added that his explanation may sound “non-eventful” but he is only telling “the truth.” So fans need not worry about the film having been spoiled by Cooper.

Copper, who returns to “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” to voice Rocket Racoon, is heard in the video below talking about Thanos being the main villain in the sequel. He later implies that Thanos is also the father of “what’s his name..the main guy…the Dark Lord,” he said. According to Heroic Hollywood, many assumed the actor was referring Dark Lord to Star Lord. However, it became clear that he was talking about Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) being the son of Thanos. From his interview it’s apparent that he forgot about the names of the characters in the film.
