The exotic One Thousand Voices fusion rifle has been sitting on top of “Destiny 2’s” PvE meta ever since it was introduced, and it’s not hard to see why. It fires a literal beam of destruction that can devastate anything it hits, and with Season 15’s Particle Deconstruction mod, the 1K Voices managed to reach new and absurd heights.

Recently, linear fusion rifles got a significant buff courtesy of the 30th Anniversary Update. The Sleeper Simulant, another top-tier exotic heavy weapon and a direct competitor to 1K’s damage output, received a massive damage boost, placing it in a very good spot in the current sandbox.

On top of this, the return of Gjallarhorn is ushering in a rocket launcher meta that hasn’t been present in the game for a very long time. Given such stiff competition, is the One Thousand Voices still worth farming for?

Particle Deconstruction remains a must-have for end-game PvE activities. This mod alone can boost a fusion rifle’s damage by 40%; that’s more than a Well of Radiance buff or a Shadowshot tether debuff.

With the mod equipped and fully stacked on an enemy, both 1K Voices and Sleeper Simulant can deal absurd amounts of damage to any target they hit.

Judging by sheer numerical values, Sleeper will outclass 1K Voices by a long shot. Youtuber Aztecross and friends previously tested the damage values of the recently-buffed weapons against the Templar and found some interesting results.

The One Thousand Voices was outmatched by Gjallarhorn, Whisper of the Worm, Sleeper Simulant and Fourth Horseman.

When compared directly with Sleeper Simulant, One Thousand Voices trades DPS for ease of use. Unlike Sleeper, 1K does not need to hit crits at all to be effective. Players only need to point the weapon at the enemy and pull the trigger until they run out of ammo. Despite doing less overall damage, the 1K Voices can still melt raid bosses with ease.

One Thousand Voices remains competitive even after the arrival of Gjallarhorn and the big buffs to other heavy weapons. It’s easy to use and can dish out tons of damage, but the fact that it can only drop from the Last Wish raid hinders its accessibility to many players.
