Last week, Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. dropped a bombshell on fans, by announcing that gamers would be able to take control of not just Batman, but Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing as well, during the events of “Batman Arkham Knight.” The explosive trailer showed the Caped Crusaders in dynamic co-operative action and fans have wondered exactly how gameplay pans out. Rocksteady is finally ready to lift the lid.

The studio has released the first part of a new weekly series, called “Arkham Insider,” which leads up to the June 23 launch of “Batman Arkham Knight.” The series is intended to slake gamer’s thirst for new details and gameplay, and provide a look into the inner workings of Rocksteady. This first episode, hosted on the official “Batman Arkham” YouTube channel, focuses on detailing exactly how the highly anticipated Dual Play system works.

“In the first episode of ‘Arkham Insider,’ we’re diving deep into our latest trailer ‘All Who Follow You,’ with new details on the Dual Play system, how it feels to wear skin-tight spandex suits, and insights on the key narrative points in the trailer from Rocksteady’s Martin Lancaster (Lead Scriptwriter) and Adam Vincent (Senior Animator). Over the course of the series, we’ll be showing you a whole lot more, you’ll hear directly from talented developers across the studio and more about the features they’ve been working on and how they come together to deliver the ultimate “Be The Batman” experience” said Rocksteady Community Manager, Liam Ashley on the PlayStation Blog.

Hosted by effusive Rocksteady Brand Marketing Manager Dax Ginn, the first episode starts in the Rocksteady kitchen, where gamers get a glimpse of what constitutes a special breakfast for the dev team. Moving on to the meat and potatoes of the video, the devs explain that gamers will be able to start a beatdown maneuver on a thug as one character and switch to the second character to finish him off. Ginn went on to add that gamers would be able to engage in Dual Play even during stealth-oriented Predator scenarios.

The team also confirmed that long-time Wayne Enterprises employee, Lucius Fox would appear in the game, providing upgrades for Batman over the course of the adventure. An example was given of the Batwing swooping in, during the trailer to provide the Batmobile with a rapid, in-the-field upgrade.

Following a series of delays, including a last minute bump from June 2, “Batman Arkham Knight” will be released on PS4, PC and Xbox One on June 23. It promises to be the concluding chapter in the “Arkham” series of games created by Rocksteady with “Batman Arkham Asylum” in 2009.
